On Saturday we had a little group excursion with all the students and their host families to the nearby Le Kaokob Cave. After waiting for the pouring rain to stop, we loaded on small row boats and headed to the mouth of the cave. The low ceiling of the cave meant everyone had to duck down low to avoid getting their heads scraped. Inside the cave were various boat stops giving the opportunity to walk around and admire the spectacular and unusual formations. The adventure really got started however on the way out. Everyone on the boat had to lay down completely flat on the boat. For about 10 minutes, it was a claustrophobic’s nightmare, as the ceiling literally passed within centimeters of our faces. A few boats took the chicken exit, but others when through even tighter spots on the way out. Its an adventure none of us will soon forget.
